August 11, 2012.

The Maryhill Stonehenge and the Milky Way during the Perseids meteor shower.

The Maryhill Stonehenge is a full-size, astronomically-aligned replica of the original Stonehenge in the UK. It was dedicated as a memorial to those that died in World War I. The Perseids are an annual meteor shower associated with the comet "Swift-Tuttle". During the peak, the rate of meteors reaches more than 60 per hour.

The memorial was lit up in red by the brake lights of a vehicle. Saw the light and immediately pressed the trigger!

Nice. I was literally up there that same day, but did not think to watch the Perseids from there.

I love the bit about the brake lights. When I saw this, I assumed you'd just used a gel.

Thank you! There were an average of about 20 people in the night watching the Perseids. The sky was extremely clear. I use some gel to get a blue effect, but I preferred the red.
